WEST MEMPHIS, AR (July 23, 2010)- Never say never was the best advice anyone could give BLS_Dustin on Friday night, as he took his #22 dirt late model to victory lane for the first time in the Crates this year in a finish that may have even topped last week's side by side finish at Cumberland.

Dustin's win allowed him to pull back to within eight points of taking the points lead back from VLR_McGee, and will definitely make things interesting over the final two races, with VLR_Shock lurking six points out of second as well.

In a race that had many up and downs, it was weekly front runner BLS_Dustin who crossed the line first on the most important lap of the race, after running in third heading into turn three on the final lap.

"We were just in the right place at the right time," a smiling Dustin said in victory lane. "I couldn't believe what happened on the last lap. I was just hoping they (VLR_18 and VLR_Shock) would mess up on the last lap and we'd have something for 'em. It played right into my hands."

Dustin was referring to the final lap of the race, when leader VLR_Shock went into turn three with VLR_18 under him. Despite leaving him plenty of room on the inside, 18 pushed up the track in turn three, way up the track, and got into the left side of VLR_Shock's #0 machine.

The resulting chaos sent VLR_Shock's car all the way to the wall coming onto the straightaway, and that's when BLS_Dustin saw his opportunity and zoomed under both of these guys to pick up his win.

The night kicked off with Dustin on the pole and VLR_18 to his outside. The points leader VLR_McGee rolled off the grid in third, with his teammate VLR_Shock starting to his outside in fourth. BLS_Zombie and BLS_4H were on the third row.

BLS_Dustin used the pole spot to shoot out to the lead early on and he would keep it that way through much of the race. You could throw a blanket over 5-10th, however, and these guys swapped spots several time during the first three laps. BLS_Zombie went from 6th to last all in one corner after getting out of the groove.

After 11 laps were in the book, BLS_Dustin was still leading, just like he had been for the first several laps. VLR_McGee was now in second, and VLR_18 had been pushed back to fourth, with VLR_Shock in between these two in third place.

Patience seemed to be out the window for this forty lapper, as Shock, 18, and McGee all went three wide down into turn one on lap 11. Shock fell from 2nd to 4th in this brief but intense action...and he quickly got back by McGee in the next turn to take over third.

VLR_JW was a driver on the move after starting ninth he had worked his way up to 5th and was now challenging McGee for the fourth spot. BLS_4H had moved up to sixth after falling back a little early on.

Lap 17 saw BLS_Dustin take his biggest lead of the race of seventh car lengths over VLR_18 after all the intense racing early on behind him and it looked like there wouldn't be enough time to catch him.

VLR_JW got into his teammate VLR_McGee in turn four on lap 20 and pulled his car into the pits shortly after. BLS_4H used the battle to his advantage and squeezed under both drivers to take over fourth in the melee.

BLS_Dustin held onto a four car length lead on lap 30 when everyone had fanned out single file. His lead was gradually shrinking and the fans were on their feet in the last ten laps to see if VLR_18 and VLR_Shock could make a run at the win in the closing circuits.

VLR_18 finally ran down the #22 machine with just five laps to go. The question now was, could he do anything with him now that he caught him? He'd soon answer that after pushing him up the track in turn three coming down to just four laps to go.

VLR_Shock fell back behind in third a little ways, but the slower pace up front due to the battling allowed him to catch the other two drivers and make it a very exciting three car race for the win.

On lap 36 Dustin got into turn 3 a little hot and pushed up into the new leader, VLR_18. Shock was lurking in third when he saw his opportunity. Shock dipped under both VLR_18 and BLS_Dustin when they washed up the track as the fans held their breath.

Suddenly, there was a three wide battle for the lead. VLR_Shock came from third to first between turns three and four to take over the top spot coming down to just three to go. The racing was intense now, and it was anybodys guess as to who would win.

VLR_Shock may have had the fastest car, but with three laps to go, anything can happen, and on this night all hell was about to loose at the end.

BLS_Dustin and VLR_18 traded spots a couple more times for second over the last few laps, but at the same time VLR_18 still stuck right on the back bumper of the 0 car.

Going into turn three on the final lap was whenever VLR_18 washed up into VLR_Shock and they both went for a wild ride, but it was Shock who suffered the worst of the damage and fell to third.

The end was a disappointing one for VLR_Shock, but BLS_Dustin was on the opposite end of the spectrum after going from third to first in about 2 seconds to pick up his first win of the season in exciting fashion. VLR_18 crossed the line right next to him in second.

Officials would later determine that VLR_Shock be awarded second after VLR_18's heavy contact with him on the last lap. VLR_McGee retained his points lead with a fourth place finish.

National City, Mi, driver BLS_BLZ crossed home in fifth and picked up the hard charger award for his efforts to come from 10th to 5th. He was followed by BLS_4H of Hindman, Ky, in sixth.

Magnolia, Ms, driver Kamikaze took home seventh place in a strong run, with BLS_Zombie holding off a valiant effort from VLR_BG for eighth and ninth, respectively.

This was Kennesaw, Ga., driver VLR_BG's first race in several weeks, and he made the feature after coming from the back in his heat race, but couldn't quite get by Zombie at the end to get eighth in a close battle.

West Point, Ms., native VLR_JW rounded out the finishing order after parking it early on when he made contact with VLR_McGee.

The VLR Crates return to action on Friday, July 30 at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, Sc., with just two races remaining on the schedule in the tightest points battle in VLR Crates history.

Stay tuned for what should be another great show, especially if the last several weeks are any indication as to how this one will go.
