Union, Ky – 15 of the best drivers in DTR2 pulled their haulers into the famed half-mile, high banked, clay oval, located in Union Kentucky.

Heat 1 would have VLR_Wheel get the jump on the field from the outside pole and he would lead all 12 laps and would be followed to the line by WFO Blaze and BLS_F1yer with the other 2 transfer spots.

Heat 2 would see WFO Ice pull to the front coming out of turn 2 as he would also lead all 12 laps. WFO Rain would use some late race contact between TXR_72 and DOIT 87 to advance his position to 2nd and VLR_Shock would fight his way back from an early problem to grab the final transfer spot.
(BLS F1yer going to the bottom in turn 1 to make an attempt at passing VLR 18 in the A-Main) In the “B” Main JJ would cruise from the outside pole and WFO Stealth would be content with a strong 2nd place to transfer. BLS_Zombie would come home 3rd and Bob would finish 4thwith the final transfer spot.

The Gatoraid Dash would see Wheel slide infront of Ice on Lap 1 and lead every lap. F1yer was all over the back of Ice but couldn’t make the pass. Rain came home 4th, with Shock and Blaze rounding out the field.

The 14,213 fans had no idea the great racing they were about to see as Wheel led them to the line and would again slide infront of Ice coming out of turn 2, but this time F1yer would also go with him and these 2 would be in a dog fight the rest of the night. On lap 5 F1yer would use the bottom to get beside Wheel but was not able to clear him going into turn 1 allowing Wheel to keep the lead. Ice would be in cruise control running the top line all the way around but would never be a contender for the win, as Wheel and F1yer would continue to put on a show for the crowd.

By lap 15 Wheel and F1yer was side by side again and it would stay this way until lap 26 when F1yer was finally able to move in front and clear. Meanwhile JJ had moved from the 7th spot to run down Ice for 3rd. JJ would try several times to get around the Oklahoma native but ran out of laps. F1yer would continue to lead with Wheel right on his bumper. Wheel would give it one last shot on the last lap but F1yer was able to keep the momentum on the high side and pick up his 1st WFO win of the season.

After the race we caught up to F1yer who was celebrating with the girls from Hooters, and asked him about the race tonight. “The track was so racy tonight, and Wheel was bad fast up front. I was able to get beside him but I didn’t think I was going to ever clear him. He ran a clean race and I want to thank him for that.”

Wheel who was in his trailer told us “Man I just got beat tonight. F1 had alittle better car and he just beat me. I hated to lose that after leading so many laps but if I’m going to lose, F1yer is a pretty good guy to lose to.”

We also caught up to 3rd place Ice “What a great race up front, I wish I had something for either of them. I let F1yer go on the start because I knew I couldn’t keep up with Wheel and the fans deserved a good race. Plus I thought if they got to racing they would slow down alittle and allow me to run with them, I was wrong on that one. If JJ had gotten to me earlier in the race I would have just let him go but with 7 laps to go I just held my line and finished 3rd with a 6th place car tonight.

I hope all the drivers and then some come back next week for the 35 lap shootout at Knox Day.
