RACE FORMAT

Qualifying will be on the night of the race, also known as live qualifying. Qualifying will be 4 laps, with the fastest lap being the time you are credited with. Ties are broken by whoever has the best TRT. If the TRT is the same, ties will be broken by whatever the live qualifying server lines you up on the results (8/17/14).

The heat races are lined up by qualifying results.

The A Main is lined up by heat race finish (1/16/16). There will be no dash.

SUBSTITUTION RULE

Each driver is allowed one sub per season. If you will be using a sub for a race please let us know beforehand so we can know who is to get the points. Also, whoever your sub driver is must be EQUAL or LOWER than you in the point standings. There will be no subs allowed for the first race of the season (Beginning Season 22)

POINTS FORMAT

Our points format has received a major overhaul starting with the Spring 2011 season. It is a dynamic points format that changes every race based on the number of cars that show-up. Therefore, it is impossible to post the full format without knowing how many cars will attend each race.

There will be a 2 point difference between finishing first and second, and every position after that will go down by one point.

For example, if 22 cars show up to the race, the winner will receive 23 points. Second will receive 21. 3rd- 20, 4th- 19, and so on, down to one single point.

This will make it so that to win a race with thirty cars is a lot better for your points then winning against a field of ten cars.

Qualifying Format

Here is the qualifying format breakdown:

1. Qualifying groups will be given out in the Ventrilo Chat as normal, all users are to go to their qualifying IP like normal.

2. Instead of a 5 lap hot before qualifying, we will now run one 3 lap hot.

3. Qualifying will now be done as a group (All the drivers in the server qualify at the same time), and will be FOUR (4) laps, instead of 3.

4. Qualifying will still show up on the VLR site live after the qualifying groups are done.

5. All drivers need to go back to Ventrilo chat and wait for heat races to come out based on overall qualifying results.

RACE FORMAT

Here is how we will run the races, and the rules for competing
RULES
  1. Race clean. This means do not wreck someone purposefully, and if you get hit do not retaliate. We will handle any problems if you get wrecked and we will get every side of the story as available. We do not watch replays after heat races or consolation races. It is our preference that if you take someone out accidentally that you will offer them your spot in the heats/consolation. We will accept replays after the main event is over to determine additonal punishments. VLR will have a three strike rule beginning this season. If you are involved in three major incidents in the season then you will be banned for the rest of the season. If you retaliate or take someone out intentionally in a race then you will be banned immediately for the season and the race will be restarted if necessary. (1/16/16)
    1. If you take someone out in the A, they will receive your points. You will still be scored with your finishing position, but you will swap points with the driver you hit if it's deemed bad enough, and if they finish behind you.
    2. Do not cheat. Do not do anything that is not readily available to the racers you are competing against including track editing. Also, you may not hypershift. If you are caught cheating, you could be banned permanently from racing in VLR events. (8/17/14)
    3. Be courteous and nice to your fellow competitors.
    4. You must save your full replay after each race in case there is a complaint or protest against you. We will review replays. If you do not have your replay you may be penalized and stripped of a victory if you won the race with no questions asked.
    5. If you are unintentionally black flagged and do not advance your position on the track you will get the spot in line you were running at the finish instead of a one lap penalty.
FORMAT
Hot Laps:
We will run one three lap hot lap before each qualifying session. (8/17)
We will run one (1) three lap hot lap sessions prior to each heat race, B main and A main. This number will be adjusted if necessary. (8/17)

Restart Rule:
There are 2 restarts within lap 1 for the heat races, C Mains, and B Mains. If a driver is excessively reckless in the heat races of features and wrecks several cars, a restart within lap 3 is up to the server host. The driver involved will be banned from the rest of the event. There are three restarts within the first lap of the A Main (8/17). This number may be adjusted if necessary at certain tracks or in certain situations.

If a car freezes we will restart from that lap. If a car freezes with less than three laps to go, the A Main will be called with all drivers getting the result where they were running at the time the race was called. If there were more than three laps remaining, the remaining laps will ran and the points will be lined up by rank, with the leader choosing what line they want to use for the restart (8/17).

Heat Races:
All heat races will be 10 laps.
There will generally be 2-4 heats.
If there are only two, the top 3 finishers will transfer to the A Main. Everyone not in the top 3 will be in a b main. The top 4 drivers from the B Main will transfer. If there are two b mains, the top 2 will transfer.
If there are 3 heats, the top 2 will transfer to the A Main. Everyone else will go to the B main(s). The top 4 drivers from the B Main will transfer. If there are two B Mains, the top 2 will transfer.
For 4 heats, the top 2 will transfer from the heats and 2 C Mains will be ran with winner only transferring to the B Main. Two drivers would transfer from the B Main in that situation.

Recap (8/17):
Heats are 10 laps
C Mains are 12 laps
B Mains are 15 laps

SPOT GIVING

Spot giving in features will only be done for transfer spots to the A or B Main. No spot giving in the A Main. You can offer your spot to someone in the heat race if you take them out. Penalties will be assessed for rough driving in the A Main. Switching points/possible banning will be the main penalty for rough driving in the A Main. (8/17)
