Hey, I was thinking about having a small online race with some of you guys in the SNAS Super Late Models at Randlefield, this Saturday, 7/20, at around 8/7 Central. But there are a few things i need to sort out first.

Last time I made a server, my friends over here said they couldn't connect to it. They could see it, but couldn't connect to it. I'm wondering if it's because I forgot to let DTR2.exe access the internet. Or maybe server.exe.

Who's Ventrilo can I use, and who will let me?

If this works out, I might make more online races, and then when I get better, I might make a series! But that'll be awhile.

The reason they see it but can't connect is: your on a router and you did'nt forward all the nessasary ports, so your router is blocking one or more ports needed to allow you to make a DTR2 server.

this is from the read me file in the dirt track racing 2 folder (shows data mods sponsors)

DTR2 only supports TCP/IP, so in order to play on a LAN each machine
will need to have TCP/IP networking for the network card set up.

To set up TCP/IP networking, follow these steps:

1. Open My Computer -> Control Panel, then run the Network application.
2. If TCP/IP for your network card is not in the list, then:
a) Click Add.
b) Double-click Protocol.
c) Select Microsoft on the left hand side, and TCP/IP on the right
hand side.
d) Click OK.
3. Select the TCP/IP item in the list, for your network card (not for
dialup networking, if you have that installed).
4. Click Properties.
5. Select the IP Address tab.
6. Click "Specify an IP address", then enter an IP address of
192.168.0.xxx, where xxx is 1 for machine 1 on your LAN, 2 for
machine 2 on your LAN, etc.
7. Enter a Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
8. Click OK, then OK on the next screen. You will probably need to
restart your computer.

not sure if thatll help or not , but it might be somethng worth reading thru that "read me" file
They say the dead don't rest without a marker of some kind.

Thanks, but I already figured out LAN racing. I forwarded the ports, so online racing where I host will be fine. If anyone is interested in racing, post a reply on this thread.
