Legendary Dirt by Terrence Fogarty. I'm sure people wonder why I was compelled to do a piece on late model dirt track racing. The response would be the same that I would give someone who wondered why I would paint a minor league ballpark in Butte, Montana or a high school football field in Randolph, Minnesota. Time honored sporting events at their most simplistic level are very often more interesting than the large, well organized events in sports. People have been making the Saturday night trek to Cedar Lake Speedway for nearly fifty years as either participants or as spectators.
