Hello and Welcome to MRL SlingShot's Dirt Track Racing 2 Guide. This guide for DTR2 add-ons will assist you with adding setups, tracks, skins & modified cars to your game.

If you are here then I assume you will be adding things to customize your game. I guarantee I am in these folders 2-3 times a day. So lets do some simple steps that will simplify this process.

Depending on what windows version you have the steps are different but lets do this. Go to start tab and find my computer. Right click on it and choose explore. Go to C:\Games\Infogrames\Dirt Track Racing 2\data. Right click on the data folder and choose create shortcut.

The shortcut is now in the data folder at the bottom. Drag and drop the shortcut file onto your desk top. Close the explore my computer window. Find the shortcut on your desktop and click on it to open. You should now have a quick access to the folders you will be accessing often right on your desktop.

If you are using Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 and your computer is operating correctly make sure to set a restore point before adding things to your game. The restore points can save a lot of headaches when things go wrong.

We did this because I strongly advise you to unzip all your add on items to your desk top prior to placing them in the game folder. The different versions of winzip and unzipping programs handle the files differently.

Windows will extract zip files too, so to keep it simple just unzip to the desktop. If you unzip right to the actual game folder and it does not work, don't email me because I will say told you so. LOL

Dirt Track Racing 2 has a simple process for sharing setups. You can add setups by simply places a setup file into a folder, if your game was installed in the default location.

You will need to add a folder inside the data folder and name it setups. The path should be   C:\Games\Infogrames\Dirt Track Racing 2\data\setups . If the folder already exists then put your setup file inside the folder.

The actual setup file should have a file extension of .str you can add folders with setup files inside the folder. If you unzipped an entire set of setups to a folder you can simply place that folder in the setups folder.

If you don't know how to create a folder or how to explore the contents of your computer, I strongly urge you to get assistance prior to adding any file to your computer!

If you want to add a car like Ultralate or Woo sprints you would basically do the same process of creating a folder inside your data folder except the folder will be named cars. If you want to add tracks you can create a folder named tracks in data folder too.

If you wants to see custom paint jobs create a folder named skins inside data. Note: If the folder already exists, don't create another. Also, if you download a file and it's in .exe format, usually it will automatically extract itself to the right folder, saving you the hard work.
