OK, So you have raced against the computer cars on the game and are ready to see how you rank against other online racers. GREAT!! There are alot of awesome guys that race online, some of these guys spend more time on here than they do at school or work. (ALOT of hours) To help you make friends other than enemies on here you will need to know a few simple things. So be sure to read this carefully and take it to heart. Otherwise you may be left all alone wondering what you did to make everyone so mad at you that they wont race with you.
First thing I would do is, if you havent already is set your realism in the game to 100%. This is a must! Otherwise you won't be as fast as the other guys because everyone in DTR2 online races at 100% realism. To find this double click on your desktop icon to fire the game up, click on options, then click on game. The fourth item down is your realism settings. This is what you want to set to 100%.
If you are new to racing online I would suggest telling everyone in the room you have just entered that "HEY IM NEW TO THIS GAME". This will let everyone know....LOOK OUT!!! lol. You don't just start out driving perfect on here, it takes time and lots of practice to get good and fast. It may be frustrating getting beat at first, but stick with it and eventually you'll be the one making everyone else frustrated that they can't beat you lol.
If you are racing and get behind and see that you are about to be lapped, MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!! 99.9% of the people racing here take this very seriously. They along with you are trying to improve, no matter how much faster they are than you, they are still trying to see if they can beat a certain fast lap time, or beat the guy they are next to racing. So be courteous and move high or low out of the way and let the faster traffic by. You dont want to make enemies in this game. Which sometimes isn't hard to do.
If you bump someone or just plain run over em when the race is over and all are back in the chat room tell them you are Sorry! I say it at least 20-50 times during my racing sessions. If you didn't realize you bumped someone or ran over them and they say "GEEZ why you run over me?" Dont get mad even if you think you didn't. Just say "Sorry I didnt think I got ya" or something to that effect. In online racing everyone doesn't load at the same time, therefore what happens on your screen may not be what's happening on their screen. If you have a racer with dial up his load time is much slower, we all aren't fortunate to have cable or DSL ect. So the #1 thing in this game is to be as courteous as possible.
DONT DRIVE BACKWARDS! If you get spun, fall behind, whatever the reason might be. Don't run backwards around the track the wrong way. This will surely make a terrible name for yourself and get you banned from a room quick!!! If you aren't going to race right then hit ESC on your keyboard and wait until the next race.
