(2/8/15) Highland, Illinois – Team ICE and VLR headed to the Land of Lincoln for the Land of Lincoln 40 @ Highland Speedway. Tight corners, hot women, what more could be asked for here. 15 cars made the pilgrimage to Highland in the 5^th race of the ICE-VLR season including BLS_BW, VLR_Shock, WFO_Ranger, and XCR_RB!

Racing started out with heats tonight, since there is no qualifying. XCR_RB! Took a tough Heat 1, VLR_Shock cruised to a win in Heat 2, and ICE_M9 took Heat 3. The B-Main tonight was took by WFO_Ranger closely followed by ICE_KG. The tough dash was took by VLR_Shock.

Before the cars rolled out onto the track for the start, WFO_Ranger got a desperate call from his wife to come home immediately for an “emergency”. With Ranger’s absence, XCR_FLY, who was ready to fly out of Highland at that moment, was called back into the race.

At the drop of the green flag, VLR_Shock and BLS_BW got out and away from all the carnage that would occur later. In the opening laps, 4^th place starter, ICE_M9, ran into the wall and fell back to 8^th and was very pissed with himself. ICE_MB must have had family members watching Netflix or some classic goat porn because he lagged out on everyone’s screen but his own. He pushed into ICE_KK and XCR_RB! and they hit the wall causing them to fall back. Eventually, like always, all rookies choke and that’s exactly what ICE_MB did and fell back to 8^th.

Meanwhile at the front, Shock and BW raced a ridiculously close race. It came down to who would make a mistake first, but neither did, so the close race continued for all 40 laps of the race. Passing was hard to come by, and ultimately it would've required a bump for BW to pass Shock if Shock didn't slip up, and that just didn't happen on this night.

At the checkered it was VLR_Shock taking the 1^st place trophy for the second time this season. BLS_BW finishes right behind Shock coming in 2^nd.

XCR_RB! and ICE_M9 come in 3^rd and 4^th after both of them battled back up through the field from incidents earlier in the race.

ICE_KG gets out and away from the back of the back and finishes 5^th.

DeadBolt and JFR_97 finish 6^th and 7^th.

The other two ICE members, ICE_MB and ICE_KK, finish 8^th and 9^th. And rounding out the field in 10^th was XCR_FLY.

Next week, ICE-VLR heads to Cedar Lake Beta v3 for the Firecracker 50. Should provide good racing with 3 lines on the top, middle, and bottom! See everyone there.
