Ok guys heres a few questions on a possible way to advance DTR2.....Tirewear!

Would people like to see more tirewear on tracks for DTR2?
How much tirewear is too much?
Would it deter leagues from running a track that would burn tires off more than tracks we have now?
Would it make the racing worse or better?
Would it be too much strategy instead of driving skill?

Lets hear it peeps!

Would people like to see more tirewear on tracks for DTR2?
-id like to see it for testing purposes 1st , maybe take a track we all know already and switch it so we can see and feel the difference

How much tirewear is too much?
-potentially after a 100 lap race , there shouldnt be much left on a tire , at least frm a reality stand points , and ive also been to 50 lap races where the winners tire was burnt off smooth clear across it - davenport at golden isle this past feb

Would it deter leagues from running a track that would burn tires off more than tracks we have now?
-not sure?

Would it make the racing worse or better?
-again not sure , refer to answer 1 , testing may be needed?

Would it be too much strategy instead of driving skill?
-straregy possibly? but would it not take even more skill to control a car with less traction after 50-100 laps , so that aspect of it im all for , i think strategy is part of skill , its the skill of understanding how to set the car up for a different kind of race

i like tire ware on it makes a difrince at some tracks and key to how u set tire to like hard for dry tracks or i know some ppl set solft for races on dry tracks in offline i have run 25-100 laps in lm class and i almost always set car up to get beter in long run if tracks wet at start race it almost always be dry at end so i set tires hard to 1 level below may not run great at start by end im moving pretty good some tracks are dry to start get dryer or stay dry u can experment with tire ware but i feel makes beter racing spealy when the wetness is changed from 47% jmo

i personally like tirewear when we ran j-mac's series tires really became a factor and personally if i would of had 2 more laps in that race i would of flew by shock and wheel and got the win but i hung back and let them 2 go at it.....when it comes to tire wear i think personally it becomes a big factor of who will win and who won't just my opinion :)

I think picking the hardness of a tire is just as big of a part of racing as the setup. For me personally I always run soft tires on any wetness and usually they are fine till about 10 to go in a long race
So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice

Thats because most long races we run are at 47 wetness. The tires wear down at a certian rate depending on the compound and track wetness. If its a dryer track, the tires will wear down faster. Another factor in how the fast tires wear down is number of laps. If you run a 2 lap race, the tires wear away almost instantly where if you run 100 laps, they'll last longer.

Thanks for the input guys.I was hoping more people would give input on this topic because i was going to make my newer tracks have a much higher tierwear so it would play into affect in races shorter than 100 laps.Im assuming since not many people are commenting on this topic that they either dont like the idea of more tirewear or dont really care so i dont guess ill waste my time on it.

Ok I just seen this post. heres my take.
In real racing choice of tire(compound) brand and how many laps how much air, tire temp. left to right. all play a factor in whether you win or lose. Did you make the right decision? Did you read the track right, did it go slick, take rubber, did you burn the right rear off ? and the most thing I always hated did we have a long yellow after heating the tires up and letting them cool off. its a guessing game at best or is it skill. I think Flyer is on the right track to come up with this, I believe its over the average gamers head. I would like to see the tires gone by 35 laps that is typically when a 35 compound dirt tire quits working the softest click in game, if someone wants a tire to last longer just click the next hardness its that simple. Flyer damn good idea I can't believe I didn't think of that.

depending on all the different tracks could be anything, but an average would be1 full second at best, if you killed the RR could be 2 seconds. The only time the car will get faster is when track starts to take rubber but this won't last but a few laps, A few laps later your car will go extreme tight and it won't turn with out brake turning with all rear brakes dialed in. driving off the corners you can hear the twisting of the frame and all kinds of wierd noises. I have twisted the bellhousing off the back of the engine twice because the tourque was so bad. I'm glad rubberd tracks don't happen that often. Dry Slick is the prefered racing surface the longer the race the shinner and slicker the track gets, you got front brakes dialed in so while braking the car slides evenly up the track thats why the times drops off. So its not all tires but in the game will feel the same.

BTW there will be no kids invited to this test session. We need quality, mature drivers(sorry shock) actually giving good feedback so we can actually see how this is going to play out.
